Rugby’s Gaels lost their cup game to Derby by 3-13 to 1-10.

It was a great game of Gaelic football with the Gaels going into a three-point lead but just ran out of steam in the last quarter.

The team have not had a game in five weeks due to the pitch at Boughton Road being flooded. This certainly showed the lack of training and games practice.

Kevin Wynne at full back, Ned Byrne at centre back and Mike Cremin at midfield had excellent games while Pat and Joe O Brien and Mick Treacy were very effective up in the forward areas. Steve Potts gave the full backs a very hard time and scored a few lovely points.

Newcomer Gerard McGahey made his debut and looks a great addition to the club with his pace and ball control.

Training Thursday evening and another semi-final next week in Birmingham.
