To support the charities involved in her father Tony’s recent treatment for cancer, Davina Jones has raised a magnificent £2,252. Tony is the club’s Steward and is presently responding well to treatment.

Davina’s major charity event was a sponsored head shave the proceeds from which have been donated to her two charities, Macmillan Cancer Support and Princess Charity, who provide wigs for children suffering from cancer using the donated hair.

With great enthusiasm, Davina, also part of Rugby Golf Club’s bar staff team, engaged the club members in her fundraising activities. This included raffles and with the help of Mark Ridley the Club Captain, a major Texas Scramble competition was held at the Club on Sunday, August 23. This was won on the day by the formidable four-man team of Martyn Walker, Bradley Star, Charlie and Simon Price.

Following the presentation of prizes immediately after the competition in a packed clubhouse at the Clifton Road course, Davina’s hair was shaved for charity, the first cut being made by a nervous Club Captain, Mark, with a professional hairdresser completing the task.
