Monthly tuition helping to boost numbers
Brandon Wood Golf Course and Club based in Wolston has seen its female membership figures increase by 20 per cent over the last year thanks to the introduction of its ladies golf tuition.
The sessions, which take place on the last Wednesday of every month, include expert tuition from PGA golf professional Lewis Baker who is on hand to teach the basics of the game and provide tips on how to develop technique.
Participants are also treated to coffee and cake giving them the chance to socialise with other lady golfers.
Lewis Baker, PGA golf professional at Brandon Wood Golf Course and Club, said: “It is really important for us to break down any existing barriers and to get more women enjoying the game in a fun and friendly environment.
“By offering ladies golf tuition it has really helped us to drive participation and increase the number of female golfers joining Brandon Wood.
“The sessions take place at 9.30am on the last Wednesday of every month and I try to help to build the golfers’ confidence by teaching them the basics as well as giving tips on how they can improve.
“The sessions are also a good way of socialising while playing as they bring female golfers together to enjoy the game.
“Over the last 12 months we have seen a significant increase in the number of people playing golf at Brandon Wood. General membership has risen by 33 per cent and our footfall for pay and play golfers has increased by 300 per cent.
“Hopefully we will see this continue over the summer and I would encourage women in the area who are interested in playing golf to sign-up for tuition and get involved.”
