Good start for Anne and Oags win Len Reece Foursomes

Newcomer to Rugby Golf Club ladies’ section, Anne Hawkins, has started her season well by winning two trophies.

Having already won the Bogey Cup (+6), Anne also achieved success by winning the Miss Size Vase with a nett 66, on Monday.

The monthly medal was won by Sandra Brazier (nett 65) making it 4 medal wins in a row.

The mixed section played a friendly against Northampton at home last Sunday. These matches are always good fun and an opportunity to network with golfing colleagues from the Harlestone Road Club. Eight pairs from each side played and the final result was a win for the home team, Rugby, by 5½ to 2½.

On Sunday the Mixed Section played the Len Reece Foursomes competition.

Introduced in 1964 by Len Reece, a member of Rugby Golf Club who wanted to encourage more mixed events, this trophy has been played for every year since. This time it was won in blustery and showery conditions by Keith and Hazel Oag with 41 Stableford points. The runners-up were Frank and Sue Davis with 39.
