Junior members of Rugby’s Triathlon Club celebrated their 2011 achievements with a fantastic awards night on Saturday.

It took no time for the youngsters and their families to make the most of the atmosphere, the talent show and karaoke.

However, it was a very big honour to have Hywel Davies present the trophies.

Hywel, during his career, has represented Great Britain in four different sports and this year, while again on national duty, became the current European Long Distance Triathlon Champion.

Junior Club Chairman, John Austin said: “It was an honour to have such an athlete of Hywel’s calibre present our awards, he offers inspiration to our young members in the way that he has competed at the very highest level in British, European and World triathlon events while maintaining a very busy work and home life.”

Lastly, immediate past Chairman Ian Payne received a commemorative glass plaque and engraved pen in recognition of his outstanding dedication to making the Rugby Triathlon Juniors the success they are today.

He has been instrumental, in the last five years, in getting the club off the ground, ensuring it is run professionally for the benefit of the whole community and its many young participants.
