Rugby’s Mark Cossar won the Mick Steer Memorial Trophy in Kent, despite spinning badly at the start, which initially left him in sixth and last place.
Cossar, who was unbeaten in the qualifying heats, set off in hot pursuit, and much to the delight of the big crowd at Maidstone, was soon weaving his way through the pack.
Having ridden their way into third spot going into the last lap, Cossar and his passenger Carl Blyth then picked off the vastly experienced Colin Blackbourn, before nosing in front of former British Masters Champion Rob Wilson to take the chequered flag in great style.
Result: 1st: Mark Cossar/Carl Blyth; 2nd: Rob Wilson/Terry Saunters; 3rd: Colin Blackbourn/Carl Pugh.
