Cossar leading the series after winning opening two rounds
Cossar at the double to lead series
Despite riding a bike set up more for grasstrack, Rugby’s Mark Cossar and his passenger Carl Blyth won the opening two rounds of the 2014 Track Racing Championship held last weekend at Peterborough Speedway.
Cossar won both finals, dropping just one point in 12 races when edged out in a heat on Sunday by the Robbie Wilson and Bradley Steer duo after the track had been heavily watered in the very warm and consequently dusty conditions.
In Saturday’s final Cossar worked his way through from third to first with a hard uncompromising move under the impressive Gareth Winterburn.
“Carl and I had to make do with a set up that wasn’t best suited to the track because I’ve had such a hectic schedule catching up with everything since I got back from Australia,” said Cossar. “Never mind though. We found a way. And it’s great of course to be leading the series.”
