New Storm side in place for National League campaign

With the first-team line-up completed, Coventry has now completed the septet of riders who will go under the name of Coventry Storm in their inaugural National League c ampaign, writes Alan Goodman.

The seven are James Sarjeant, Joe Jacobs, Oliver Greenwood, Brendan Johnson, Richard Franklin, Trevor Heath and Martin Knuckey. Sarjeant has been on Coventry’s asset base for a couple of years while Franklin started his shale career as Bees mascot.

The final signing, Knuckey comes from Cornwall and hopes to follow the same career path as fellow Cornishmen Chris Harris and Ben Barker.

The team manager will be Wayne Scroggins.

The Bees fixtures have now been announced but the National League has yet to release theirs.

It is known the Storm will ride a home and away challenge with Dudley for the Travel Plus Trophy (on Friday, March 22 and Tuesday April 9)and also they have drawn Mildenhall in the Knock-Out Cup.

It is proposed to run a coach to the BEN Fund Challenge meeting at Berwick on Saturday March 9. This meeting raises funds to help injured riders. The cost will be £25 and £22 concessions.

Bees are to visit Leicester on Saturday, March 16. This is the first time the two teams have met since Leicester opened at their new Beaumont Leys track. In a revival of the East Midlands Bowl, Bees will be at full strength with the exception of Adam Roynon who rides for Leicester in the Premier League.
