Great season for Roger Hunt
Pool player Roger Hunt has won the Rugby & District doubles title for the seventh time - across four decades.
Roger’s success in the competition began in the 1980s, and continued intermittently through the 90s, 2000s and now 2015.
This year he teamed up with Mark Winham, with whom he also won the title in 2011. After winning their semi-final 4-0, they went on to complete another whitewash in the final, this time against Roger’s former doubles partner Johnny Webb and Gary Cox.
In fine form, Roger reached the last eight in the Golden Cue singles tournament at Great Yearmouth, which had an entry of 450.
In a superb achievement Roger won six matches on his way to the quarter finals.
He is hoping to continue his success in the Senior Masters at the World Championships in Blackpool in June, where he just missed out on a place in the final last year, losing 6-5 in the semi-final to an Australian player.
Roger also has three events remaining on this year’s Senior UK Tour, with Weston Super Mare in July, Peterborough in October and Manchester in November.
