A quartet of Princethorpe College swimmers received medals for their efforts at the Independent Schools’ Assocation National Swimming Gala held at City of Coventry Baths last month.
Princethorpe has a long tradition of performing well at this gala so it was no surprise that there was an early appearance on the podium for Year 7’s Imogen Butler.
She had a fabulous day taking a silver in the 50 metre backstroke in a cracking time of 40.38. The determined 12 year old went on to repeat her success with another silver in the medley relay.
Upper Sixth former Alex Hammond has a storming day winning his 200 metre Individual Medley by a huge margin.
Further success came in the 50 fly with him setting a new National ISA record in a time of 27.90.
The A-level student barely had time to sit down before he was in the water again taking further silvers in the medley and free relays.
Year 10’s Kate Mackenzie swam in her medley relay helping the Midlands squad to take a gold and Year 7’s Will Dunderdale waited patiently to support his team in the freestyle relay, one of the final events of the day with his team coming second.
This was a terrific event with Independent Schools from the North, East Anglia, London South, South West and London West and London North taking part.
Princethorpe College Head of Academic PE Mrs Louise Harrison said: “This year saw success at the top and bottom end of the age range at Princethorpe.
“It is fantastic that these dedicated athletes receive recognition for their hard work and out of school training.”
