June 16

Daniel Mould of Rugby & Northampton went to the top of the Senior Men’s rankings after six races in the East Midlands Grand Prix Series.

The latest event over 5 miles in Harborough saw Mould finish in 7th place with 28 mins 4 secs to make the top ten for the fifth time and become the first R&N athlete for 12 years to lead the overall series.

This also contributed to another team win making them Grand Prix champions with two races still remaining.

Stephen Marks was the next man over the line in 11th spot on 28.18 and John Gercs in 13th continued his good form in the M45 category on 28.37, which placed him 3rd in the age group.

Completing the team’s fourth win in the series was Mike Andrews who recorded 29.53 for 28th position (M40 1st).

Alan Mould, father of Daniel, claimed his first ever victory in any age group when he won the M55 section with 32.58 and closing off the Veteran team was Laurence Scott for 8th in the M50 event with 33.33. Although the squad were 3rd on the night they are now tied with Wootton Road Runners at the top of the overall standings.

In the Ladies’ section Vicky Nealon made her first appearance of the season and finished in 7th place with 34.07 followed by Angela Copson just eight seconds behind in 9th to win the F65 race.

Other R&N men taking part were Daniel Williams (30th in 30.03), Jonathan Taylor (58th in 32.19), Mick Howell (M50 13th in 35.41) and Neil Martin (M55 9th in 38.13).
