Team GB’s success in 2012 inspires new generation to take up the sport

Following intensive training, three local school girls have had the opportunity to compete at two rowing events at Henley Regattas. The girls Hayley Fenemore (17) of Ashlawn school, Lucy Buckley (16) of Princethorpe school and Becca Sandercock (15) of Rugby High school competed with Dani Fusco-House (17) at both Henley Women’s Regatta and at the end of June for a chance to row at Henley Royal. The girls are members of Hollowell Scullers train at Hollowell sailing club in Northamptonshire. They are coached by Andrew Rudkin who is a previous Henley winner.

The girls rowed well and gained respectable positions in all their events despite being younger than many of the other crews from larger clubs.

Hollowell Scullers are looking forward to further success at regattas over the summer and at ‘Brit Champs’ competition to be held at Strathclyde water park, Glasgow.
