Lions and Newbold games postponed
Old Laurentians held fourth-placed Kettering to a 20-3 scoreline in their Midlands 1 East defeat on Saturday, while Newbold’s game at Matlock was postponed.
Next weekend OLs host Newark, who are just one place above them at the bottom of the table and third-placed Newbold travel to Northampton Old Scouts, who are currently tenth in the division.
Rugby Lions were without a game because of a waterlogged pitch at Old Coventrians in Midlands 3 West (South) where five teams are still in contention for promotion. In the only other re-arranged game played, Southam beat Woodrush 26-6 to go top with 57 points. Evesham are second, also on 57 with Lions third with 56, Old Covs next with 53 and Ledbury fifth with 52. Southam and Ledbury have both played an extra game.
Next weekend Lions have a home fixture at Webb Ellis Road against eighth-placed Woodrush, while Old Covs host Evesham.
Rugby Welsh went out of the Clonmel Cup, 24-8 to Long Buckby 2nds at Alwyn Road. Welsh put up a spirited performance, but were knocked out by a well drilled Long Buckby outfit.
Next weekend third-placed Welsh are back in Midlands 5 West (South) action against second-placed Keresley.
Rugby St Andrews 1sts didn’t have a game on Saturday, but host St Neots next weekend in a Midlands 3 East (South) fixture. Saints are fifth in the table, and St Neots ninth.
