Battle of the Andys in showpiece final

Andy Brough has retained his Rugby Double Glazing Ltd Premier League Snooker crown by a convincing margin, defeating the previously unbeaten Andy Sorrell 5-1 in Saturday’s showpiece final.

With a packed match room in attendance Brough flew out of the blocks and went into a commanding 3-0 lead. Sorrell had shown glimpses of good form and perhaps should have taken at least one of the frames, however, Brough picked up the pieces to snatch all three.

Sorrell then compiled a well crafted 47 break in frame four and the mid-session interval perhaps came at a crucial point.

After the interval Brough made short work of clinching the two frames he needed for victory with nice 40+ breaks of his own, however Sorrell had chances to make the scoreline much closer than the eventual 5-1 reverse. It was apparent that Andy Sorrell was in decent form, however, crucial misses when in the balls led to his downfall and Andy Brough, similarly to Sorrell, although not on top form showed patches of quality snooker.

Many thanks must go to Simon Wade, Director of Rugby Double Glazing Ltd, for his company’s continual support both financially and being in attendance throughout. Also to Rileys Sports Bar for holding the event free of charge.
