News from Coventry Bees and Storm
Coventry Buildbase Bees have completed their team for the new season with the signing of Stuart Robson.
Robson, the rider who many fans wanted to fill the final spot, starts his fourth spell with Bees. He has been riding for ten campaigns and impressed in guest appearances last season.
The final place rested between Robson and Aaron Summers, who also gave his all when called up last year. Promoter Mick Horton and Team manager Gary Havelock eventually came to the conclusion that Robson was the man to complete what appears to be a much stronger middle-order than last season.
The complete team is: Hans Andersen, Chris Harris (captain), Danny King, Cameron Woodward, Stuart Robson, Jason Garrity, James Sarjeant.
Bees reached the play-offs last season and barring mishaps such as injury this side looks capable of doing even better.
Coventry City Gearboxes Storm have also finalised their National League team.
Due to rider progression and a lower 36-point limit, several changes have had to be made.
With James Sarjeant, Stefan Nielsen and Oliver Greenwood concentrating on Premier League racing and Ryan Terry Daley moving to Stoke there will be four new faces in the side.
Mark Crang will captain the side which will include fellow returnees Dan Greenwood and Martin Knuckey.
New to the team will be Darryl Ritchings, Rob Shuttleworth, Stefan Farnaby and former Bees’ mascot Conor Dwyer.
The National League will consist of 11 teams, one more than last year. Scunthorpe and Devon have dropped out but former Elite League teams Birmingham and Eastbourne will field stand alone teams while the 11th will be a Rye House septet.
Although nothing has been confirmed, the opening meeting at Brandon is scheduled for Friday, March 20.
