Rugby Swimming Club’s Synchro Section continued their good early season form with an excellent showing at last weekend’s Novice Competition held in Reading.

The gold medallists being: Olivia Walker, Emily Woodbridge, Grace Huett, Rhia Perks, Emily Durkin, Emilia Birtles, Emilia Walker, Beth Green, Isobel Reed and Ellie Frost (Emily Old was also present as reserve).
Rugby should take great confidence from this performance and will go into next month’s Warwickshire Championships with an outstanding medal opportunity.
In the individual Figure Competition, Rugby registered a second gold medal when Maja Nicholson easily out-scored her rivals in the 13-19 years Skill 1 category.
A further three medals followed with Katy Green and Ellie Frost returning great silver medals and Emilia Birtles taking a well-earned bronze in their respective age groups. With many more promising performances, the young Rugby contingent were pleased with their day’s work - special mention to Cassie Reed, Amelia Quinn and Nayana Walker who all achieved ‘top 10’ finishes in the 8-10 years section. Also, Alice Old who continues to show encouraging improvement within Rugby’s strong 13-14 years age group. Talented Head Coach, Hannah Dudley has a further two weeks to prime her squad for the Warwickshire Championships, to be held at Rugby’s Ken Marriott Leisure Centre on Saturday, July 2.
Synchro combines the stamina of swimming with the grace and artistry of gymnastics and dance. Rugby Swimming Club’s top performers currently perform their solo, duet and team routines in County, Regional and National competitions - a great way to develop both their physical and social skills.
