Warwickshire Age Groups and Championships
Rugby Swimming Club Synchro entered its biggest entries of the year so far into this year’s Warwickshire Age Groups and Championships held at Rugby’s own Queen’s Diamond Jubliee Centre. With a large entry from clubs from all around the country it was a tough competition for the home team but was great experience and yielded some promising results and performances.
In the 12 and under Age Group - Cassie Reed was awarded a double gold medal with 1st place in the figures and solo categories for Warwickshire. She was joined by Charlotte Twist to place 2nd in the duet event with Georgia Lindsay and Lili Carroll placed 3rd.
Rugby entered two combination teams into this age group and were rewarded by a silver and a bronze medal. Rugby A were represented by Ariane Sargent, Joey Bridgewater, Ana Hernandez, Eve Howard, Anne Mynors, Bethany Clarke, Charlie Putt, Emily Ogg, Elspeth Iles and Rose Potter. Rugby B were represented by Evelyn Whisker, Phoebe Saturley, Lana Penney, Ella and Jennifer Ravenhall, Jess Barrett-Leafe, Lola Marsay, Nyah Munden-Edge, Hattie McMillan and Sophie Thomas. Rugby also won one bronze and one silver medal in the Open Category at this age group.
In the very competitive 13/14/15 age group Hannah Linden was highest placed Rugby athlete with a bronze medal in the figures and solo events. She was joined by Nayana Walker and together they won the silver medal in the duet event. Special mention to Abby Huett and Elise Richardson who also competed in the duet event but during their routine Elise was taken unwell and could not complete the routine.
In the combination team event Rugby won the silver medal and were represented by Mae Howard, Sophie Chaloner, Olivia Broomhead, Anna Kempson, Molly Saunders, Jess Farndon, Rosie Thomas and Katie McConnell. Emily Marston was the reserve swimmer. Two bronze and one silver medal were also awarded in the Open Category at this age group.
Moving onto the 15/18 age group, Gemma Broad won the silver medal in the figures and solo events and Emily Durkin picked up a bronze medal in the solo event. Together they also won the silver medal in the duet event with Rhia Perks and Grace Huett just finishing outside the medals in 4th place.
In the Championship category, Gemma Broad won the bronze medal in the figures event and again paired with Emily Durkin for the duet event.
In the 19 and under Combination Team Rugby won the gold medal and were represented by Erin Dunn-Morgan, Becky Wilkinson, Meredith Whiting, Isobel Ogg, Freya Thomas, Eleanor Garrard, Jess Mundy, Molly Port, Alice Old and Isobel Reed.
Rugby also won a silver medal in the final event of the day which was the Championship Combination Team event. The team consisted of Emilia Walker, Emily Durkin, Gemma Broad, Becky Wilkinson, Erin Dunn-Morgan, Ellie Frost, Rhia Perks, Grace Huett, Alice Old and Meredith Whiting.
Well done to all of the girls, for some this was their very first competition of the year and for others this was their very first competition ever. RSC Synchro will now enjoy a couple of weeks off for the summer before focusing for the main, bigger and high profile competitions towards the end of the year.
