The Baker girls, Natalie and Rachael were unbeaten in their round robin groups with respective partners Martin Hunter and Graeme Morgan.

This saw them getting a direct bye to the semi-final stage. The quarters saw Katy & Matthew Outhwaite beating Alison Kelly & Andy Randle 5-1, while Lisa Webb & Gareth Davies overcame a tough battle with Rebecca Thomas & Chris Haynes by 6 games to 4.

Rachael & Graeme continued with their unbeaten run as they defeated Katy & Matthew 5-3 in the semi’s.

After an even start, it was Lisa & Gareth who managed to forge ahead for a 5-2 win against Natalie & Martin.

Although undefeated on the day, Rachael & Graeme kept their best tennis for the final as they ran out convincing 5-0 winners against Lisa & Gareth to become this year’s Champions.

The consolation group saw Natalie Meek & Graeme Baker beating Sara & Roger Moore 5-1 in the semis, while Belinda Stephens & Roger Allen defeated Amanda & Nigel Trodd 5-2 in the other.

Belinda & Roger proved too strong in the final as they ran out 5-1 winners.

Men’s Doubles

Six pairs fought out this year’s Men’s Doubles Championships. The undefeated group winners were Duncan Grime & Marcus Powell, while it went right down to the last match to decide their opponents for the final.

It was Paul Thomas & Aaron MacDonald who defeated Chris Haynes & Gareth Davies 7-4 to clinch this place.

The final saw a really competitive match with the score swaying too and fro until they reached a tie-break at 6 games all. Paul & Aaron just kept their noses in front until at 4-5 down Marcus pulled out two great serves and a service return winner to win 7-4. Congratulations to Duncan & Marcus in becoming the 2013 Men’s Champions.

Ladies Doubles

There were eight pairs who competed for this year’s Ladies Doubles Champions. All eight pairs were fairly equally matched which meant there was some very enjoyable competitive tennis with every pair winning at least one match.

The two pairs that reached the final were Cat Strickland & Debbie Smith and Rachael Baker & Rebecca Thomas, who both won six of their matches.

The final was another very competitive match with all four players giving their all. Cat & Debbie managed to get their noses in front and as hard as they tried, Rachael & Rebecca just couldn’t quite get back on equal terms. Finally, Cat & Debbie sealed a 6-4 victory with Cat producing a flying volley to secure match point.
