Members of Rugby Triathlon Club gathered at its AGM to hear how well the club is performing and to elect a new chairman and supporting committee members.
Back in the lead role as club chairman for a second year, Ali Postlethwaite will be ably supported by 11 others.
In her AGM address, Ali acknowledged that more club members were now racing at all levels of competition from super sprint to Ironman distances and in all corners of the UK and beyond. She described the club’s own event - the Daventry Triathlon - as wonderful and thanked the 70 or so members who volunteered.
She acknowledged that the volunteers ensured that the organisation of the race ran smoothly and that all participants had a brilliant experience. “As a club we should not underestimate our achievement of organising a new event in a very short timescale and in a very public arena,” she said. “It was fantastic to gain positive feedback from racers of all abilities, these comments will help us to make the race even better in 2013,” added Ali.
Ali thanked all on the outgoing committee for their hard work during the year and welcomed onboard new committee members. The Rugby Triathlon Club
Committee for 2013 comprises: Chairman, Ali Postlethwaite; Treasurer Pete Timmins; Club Captain Keith Edwards; Race Director Garry Haynes; Club Secretary Adrian James; Membership Secretary Bev Masterman; Webmaster Brian Unwin (supported by Nick Tombs); Kit Co-ordinator Kate Vanloo; Social Secretary Simon Storey;
Welfare Officer Naomi Leugs; Grants & Funding Officer Richard Cousins.
Members also took the opportunity to nominate two charities to support in 2013: Zoe’s Place Baby Hospice (Coventry) and CLIC Sargent.
