TRIATHLON: Grant to buy wetsuits

Junior triathletes - like ducks to open water!

Junior Triathlon club members have taken to open water swimming just like ducks and with great enthusiasm, thanks to a £750 grant award from the trustees of the Heart of England Community Foundation’s Kingscliffe Fund.

The junior committee decided to use the grant to provide club wetsuits. Ian Payne, Junior Committee Chairman said: “We wanted to give our juniors a taste of open water swimming and decided to buy seven wetsuits. Our first session at Bosworth Water was a huge success and endorses our view that the club should try to remove participation barriers as wetsuits can be quite costly for those just starting in the sport.”

The Kingscliffe Fund is held, by the Heart of England Community Foundation, for an anonymous Warwickshire benefactor who wants to support small projects for young people in Southam, Dunchurch and Rugby. The Foundation identifies good prospects, and the benefactor makes the final decision.

Any junior club member can borrow the suits for one of the Saturday practice sessions or for competitions.
