Russ Cager takes over from Ali Postlethwaite at AGM

Russ Cager was elected to Chair the Rugby Triathlon Club at its Annual General Meeting last week, taking over from outgoing Chairman Ali Postlethwaite.

In her report to club members Ali highlighted the club’s success in growing its membership and the numbers participating in races. She particularly focused on the success of the Daventry Sprint Triathlon in terms of entry numbers, organisation and positive feedback from competitors. She acknowledged the efforts made by members in supporting that race and her fellow voluntary committee members in ensuring the smooth running of the club.

On becoming Chairman Russ Cager said: “I’m so proud of our club’s successes and plan to build on them. My main aim is to develop the number of members racing, supporting both experienced and novice athletes, without losing sight of the spirit of fun and enthusiasm that I’ve experienced and for which the club is well known.”

The Club also agreed to support two charities in 2014 - JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) and the Hoskyn Centre in Rugby.

Committee members for 2014 are:

Chairman, Russ Cager; Treasurer, Pete Timmins;

Club Captain, Ross Wearing; Race Director, Garry Haynes;

Club Secretary, Tracey Price; Membership Secretary, Bev Masterman;

Kit Co-ordinator, Kate Vanloo; Press & Publicity Officer, Josie Goodwin;

Welfare Officer, Naomi Leugs; Grants & Funding Officer, Naomi Leugs;

Social Secretary, Rachel Rathbone and Sharon McGowan;

Webmaster, Brian Unwin (supported by Stuart Sykes).
