Rugby Phoenix Volleyball club are holding an open evening on Wednesday, September 12 at Harris Sports Centre.

Anyone who has been inspired by watching volleyball during the Olympic games is invited to come along and try the sport for themselves during this special free event evening. A junior session for boys and girls aged 10-16 will run from 7pm to 8pm, then the adults session will run 8pm to 10pm.

Phoenix secretary, Jon Chetham, explained the excitement which is behind the launch of this event: “Ever since the Olympics started we have been receiving emails and phone calls on a daily basis from all ages wanting to know how to learn or try out the sport.

“During the summer we ran a taster session at a multi-sport event at Stoneleigh and volleyball was far and away the most popular so we are keen to satisfy the demand. We are right at the start of the indoor season and this is the perfect opportunity for people to take up a new sport or commit to getting active in a new way. It doesn’t matter how old you are or how fit you are, volleyball is loads of fun and a very social game.”

Rugby Phoenix have men’s and women’s teams in regional leagues and a thriving junior section, led by some of the best coaches in the West Midlands.
