VOLLEYBALL: Want to have a go?

Looking for volleyball stars of the future

The Volleyball England Central girls coach is coming to Rugby to inspire girls from across the region to take up volleyball ... and search for potential national team stars.

Rugby Phoenix Volleyball Club has been chosen to host the day of volleyball for girls aged 10-16 on Sunday, October 28th. Young atheletes from the whole of the West Midlands are invited and every secondary school in the region has been contacted. No experience is required and the top level coaches will introduce volleyball through a variety of fun games and activities.

Participants just require their sports kit, a bottle of water and plenty of enthusiasm! The event will be held at The Harris Sports Centre, Mellish Road, Rugby CV22 6BB.

Jon Chetham, coach at Rugby Phoenix, sees this as a real endorsement of the work being done to develop junior volleyball in Warwickshire: “Volleyball England have specifically chosen Rugby to host this event because of the great facilities we have at Harris Sports Centre, and the rising number of girls playing volleyball in our club and surrounding schools,” he said. “We have beaten competition from Wolverhampton and Birmingham to be the hosts for this so we are hoping for a great turn-out of aspiring volleyballers!”
