Bretford Cycle Speedway Club’s Joe and Lee Kemp have returned from America with world titles to their names.
Both lads were sponsored by Wolston’s local community as well as Long Lawford charities and many pubs and hotels in the Rugby area.
Lee, 12, and Joe, 17, were selected by British Cycling to ride for their country. And while they were in America raced in the World Junior Team Championships with another six riders from around the country - winning the title in a fantastic achievement.
Lee and Joe also took part in the Junior World Individual Rounds in Edenton In North Carolina. Both had to qualify for the final. At 12 Lee was the youngest ever Junior World finalist and came a creditable 8th in the world.
Joe was 4th in the world, just missing out on the rostrum by a single point, behind an Australian rider in first, Polish rider second and England team-mate Dan Chambers third.
Against 31 competitors, Joe also got through the tough qualifying rounds to reach the Senior Worlds Cycle Speedway final where he was 16th.
Proud mum Bernie Kemp said: “I would like to thank every one for their support in raising funds for the boys to travel to America.
