Having not raced for over six weeks Rugby’s Keith Jaggard returned to Ducati Tri-Options Cup action at Kent’s Brands Hatch compact 1.3 Mile Indy layout, a circuit that has never been kind to him, writes Colin Hill.

With track time limited for his class, Keith had to find a good set-up quickly and qualify well to be best placed to attack during the first of the weekend’s two races. With small improvements as he went on, he managed to qualify in 28th. He was happy with this after a small problem arose during the session.

Race 1: Feeling confident the problem had been sorted, Keith headed to the grid for the 15-lap race. Lights out and 32 bikes headed for the first corner, all made it through safely and started to settle into their race. But only a lap in and Keith started to experience brake problems ... and after a further four laps of attempting to ride around them and adjust the brakes he had to admit defeat for his and the rest of the field’s safety and return to the pits to retire.

Race 2: Having worked hard to rectify the brake problems, Keith headed to the grid on Sunday hoping to put the disappointment of the previous result behind him. But sadly after seven laps the same problem returned, which resulted in retirement and an end to a bitterly disappointing weekend.

The next outing for the Championship is on the support card to the World Superbike Championship at Donington Park.
