New Jumps season set to get under way at Warwick

Although born in Warwickshire, Klein is currently based in New Zealand and will be returning to the UK with his family to start work in early November.

Since August 2012, Klein has been chief executive at Otago Racing Club in Dunedin, which stages around 15 race days a year between the venues of Wingatui and Cromwell on South Island. He is also New Zealand’s Jump Racing manager, having overseen a complete restructure of the sport throughout the country.

With previous manager Huw Williams having taken up the reigns at sister Jockey Club track Wincanton, Lee Moulson has been placed in temporary charge.

Having been commercial manager at Warwick before moving to Jockey Club Racecourses’ regional office at Cheltenham, Moulson is familiar with the course.

The 2016 fixture list sees the course again staging 17 meetings with a summer break from May until September.

“We are delighted to have secured the same number of fixtures for 2016,” said Moulson.

“As we look forward to our second season as an all-jumps track getting underway, it is an encouraging foundation upon which to deliver our vision of becoming one of the UK’s leading small jumps courses.”

Next week’s opening fixture gets underway at 2.10pm, with the highlight of the six-race card being the class 3 Bet And Watch On Mobile winner.co.uk Handicap Chase over three miles and one-and-a-half furlongs.

The finale is the £6,000 Warwick Interactive Handicap Chase over a two-and-a-half miles, which is part of the British Horseracing Authority’s Interactive Race Planning initiative allowing trainers to request types of races for horses which are not well catered for by the racing calendar.
