Can you solve football posers?

Kenilworth resident Mary Morris has sent in a photograph of a local football team which she hopes a reader may be able to identify.

Mary said: “My cousin, whilst going through a box of old photos, came across an Ardath cigarette card featuring the Kenilworth Early Closers FC.

“It referred to their achievements in the seasons 1934/35 and 1935/36.

“Although I’ve lived in the town all my life, I’ve never heard of this team and I’m wondering whether this would be of interest to you or your readers.”

Another football poser has come from Leamington historian Alan Griffin. He has submitted a photo of a footballer receiving a trophy in the 1950s.

In the picture are former Warwick and Leamington MP Anthony Eden, his wife Clarissa (Winston Churchill’s niece), whom he married in 1952, and Owen Davidson, who was Leamington mayor in 1951.

Alan would like to know which football team was involved. The only clue is the player’s badge with the initials NFC.
