Rugby Telecom v Oakfield

Rugby Telecom beat Oakfield by 11 runs

Played at Barby last Wednesday, Rugby Telecom won the Knock-out Plate title, with Scott Saunders hitting a century and taking the Man of the Match honours.

Having won the toss Telecom batted first, setting a total of 164-3, with Saunders carrying his bat on 102 not out.

Will Edwards added 20. Chris Smith, Richard Burnett and Gurjit Rupal took one wicket apiece.

In reply Oakfield’s top scorer was Richard Burnett with 44, opener Craig Gowdy making 33 and Neil Armstrong 19 and Gurjit Rupal 19no. But their challenge ended on 153-4, just 11 runs short.

Telecom bowlers Will Edwards and Gary Small both took two wickets.

Division One

The Merchants finished the season as league champions, with Rugby CC the runners-up.

The lower divisions concluded the previous week, with Rowland United champions in Division two, ahead of Rugby Telecom and Oakfiled and Stockton topping Division Three, followed by Stretton on Dunsmore and Old Laurentians.

Finishing bottom of Division One were West Haddon & Guilsborough and Hunningham, while Braunston Paddox and Cummins filled the relegation spots in Division Two.

The Merchants beat Newbold on Avon by 71 runs, helped by a huge score of 163 from Owen Edwards: The Merchants 248-6 (Owen Edwards 163, Danny Scott 2-34, Craig Scott 2-58)

Yelvertoft beat Hunningham by 47 runs: Yelvertoft 188-3 (Edward Krarup 70, Sam Bevin 38no, James Martin 25no, Ed Russell 2-35)

Hunningham 141-7 (Mark Maskell 40no, Philip Blowey 31, Adam Ursell 2-10, James Owen 2-13, Sofyan Aslam 2-41).
