One Day Cup competition on Monday, August 17

Warwickshire County Cricket Club returns to Rugby School for its third year on Monday, August 17, for a crucial match in the Royal London One Day Cup, against Sussex Sharks.

With the match starting at 10.30am, the day is set to have an exciting array of activities, with spectators having the chance to have a photo with the Royal London One-Day Cup trophy, which is visiting as part of a nationwide tour of 18 Counties.

The day will also host the Royal London Gilbert Cup tournament, which sees two Under 11 Boys teams and two Under 11 Girls teams take part in an eight-a-side soft ball game at each county. Should the Bears reach the final on Saturday, September 19, the winning teams from Rugby School will be invited to compete during the interval in a Grand Final of their own.

Gareth Roberts, Commercial Director at Edgbaston, said: “The annual match in Rugby is something that the playing squad and staff look forward to. Not only does it enables us to reach supporters in the wider county, but play at another fantastic venue.

“In order to give greater peace of mind to spectators we have introduced a full refund policy for this year’s match at Rugby School, in case the weather intervenes. However, we’re hopeful that conditions will be similar to the glorious sunshine that we saw in our first visit in 2013 and provide a great day out for our Members and supporters.”

During the interval of the match, Warwickshire CCC is also staging a short coaching session, which is free for Grizzlies members. Simply email with the name and membership number by Monday, August 10 to book in.

Tickets for Warwickshire v Sussex Sharks can be booked at Rugby Visitor Centre, at or by calling the Club’s Ticket Hotline on 0844 847 1902.
