New players welcome at pre-season sessions

Cricketers young and old invited and welcome at Willoughby CC this season

With the new cricket season not far away, Willoughby Cricket Club are inviting cricketers young and old from Rugby and the surrounding area to get involved with the club this Summer.

The club, based in the pretty village of Willoughby only five miles from Rugby, begin their pre-season training and net sessions in the coming weeks, with plenty of cricket action available for the 2015 season for cricketers of all ages and experience.

The club’s mens/adult section will see two teams playing on Saturday afternoons in the South Northants Cricket League, a midweek XI playing Wednesday evenings in the Rugby and District Cricket League, plus a Sunday XI playing a host of friendlies on Sunday afternoons against similar local village clubs and teams.

Willoughby’s junior cricket section continues to flourish and is one of the most popular in the local area. For 2015, in addition to weekly coaching and game sessions run by ECB qualified coaches, they will once again have Kwik Cricket for boys and girls aged 6-10, plus [hard ball] teams at Under 11, Under 13 and Under 15 level in the Rugby and District Cricket league.

Add to that a series of off-field social events for all club members during the course of the year, it all adds up to being another busy 12 months in store at The Green.

Pre-season training for Willoughby CC will be once again be held at the excellent indoor hall facility of Warwickshire College in Rugby.

The mens/adult section + Under 15s get underway next Tuesday (27th January), from 8.15 to 9.30pm, with sessions running each Tuesday until the end of March.

The Under 11s and Under 13s begin their preparations on Saturday 7th February, from 1.00 to 2.30pm, with their sessions running each Saturday also up to Easter.

Details of additional sessions specifically for the Under 15 section will be confirmed in the coming weeks.
