Clean sweep of victories for Rugby and Barby

It was a weekend to remember for Rugby Cricket Club, whose teams all won with maximum points, making it one of the most successful days in their history.

The feat was made all the more remarkable by the fact all three sides batted first and all three captains were then able to declare, having set up dominant positions.

Four players also hit centuries.

The win still leaves Rugby 1st XI seventh in the Warwickshire League Premier Division after a few indifferent games earlier in the season.

Rugby 2nd XI are sixth in Division 4, where Oakfield 1sts are in an excellent third spot, having taken 18 points from a thrilling tie with Star Alvis on Saturday. The division is wide open with only 29 points between the top six sides.

Oakfield 2nd XI lost their unbeaten record in Division 9 East but are still in third spot.

It was also a fantastic weekend for Barby, with victories for all four of their teams, including their Sunday XI.

Barby 1st XI are currently seventh in Warwickshire Division 1, while their 2nd XI are fourth in Division 7.

Willoughby 2nd XI’s win on Saturday secured them promotion from South Northants Division 4 . Their 1st XI are currently fifth in Divsion 1.
