Saturday saw the first race in the series of Birmingham League Cross Country races for senior men. The original course at Worcester was waterlogged so the race was transferred to Coundon Park in Coventry which proved to be a challenging, flat and very muddy.

The race started at breakneck pace with several leading international athletes to the fore. In the front of the chasing pack was Dominic Jones (445). Dominic ran an extremely well-judged race bringing himself into the top 10 at the start of the second of the three laps. He eventually finished an outstanding eighth, truly exceptional. Not far behind came international orienteer William Gardner (439) in 30th, who in turn was chased home in 39th position by Jack Bond. The remaining scorers were James Wizard in 109th, new recruit Anthony Clancy in 134th and Alisdair Gardener in 139th. The B team was a real mix of youth and experience - Cian Hutton, Joe Musgrove, Sam Blackshaw, Adam Bebbington, Terry Egan, and Jon Saw.
