CROSSBOW: Mayor presents awards to Rugby Sport for the Disabled

Before the latest restrictions, Rugby Sport for the Disabled were delighted to meet up with the Mayor of Rugby at the Town Hall.

Cllr Bill Lewis, presented awards from the World Crossbow Shooting Association (WCSA) to RSDA winners in the Council Chamber.

The Mayor is an associate member of Rugby Sport for the Disabled Association and his wife Sue helps each Saturday and is a committee member.

WCSA World Ranking certificates as at 31.12.2019 were presented to:

Sport Bow: Graeme Mooney Indoors 1st: Outdoors 2nd.

Iris Bingham: Indoors 4th, Outdoors 5th.

Target Bow: Iris Bingham Indoors 1st, Outdoors 2nd.

Kevin Rumble also achieved a Ranking certificate for Sport Bow.

Iris and Graeme both received one individual and one team gold medal from the 2019 WCSA World Championships.

Both gained five World Championship records and Iris also had five World and European records. Graeme also won a Gold for the Team Matchplay.

The WCSA awarded Iris and the late Glenmore Thomas a Team gold medal each and five World Championship, five World and five European records after an error came to light from a previous World Championship.

Iris received her Team Gold medal along with 15 record certificates. (If you know a relative of Glen’s, please contact the Advertiser)

The Mayor kindly gave everyone an informative booklet entitled ‘A visit to the Mayor’s Parlour’ as well a visitor’s certificate embossed with the town stamp.

RSDA members found his talk extremely interesting whilst enjoying a cuppa, along with Sue’s Welsh cakes, in the Parlour.

Everyone enjoyed the visit to the Council Chamber and Parlour and sincerely thanked the Mayor for his hospitality.
