The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Centre on Bruce Williams Way is inviting everyone to a week of free sporting activities this January.

The leisure centre run by Better, the UK’s largest leisure provider, is organising taster sessions for a range of activities during the week starting on January 26 for a variety of age groups.

On Tuesday 27th, from 7.20-8.20pm there will be Football4Fun for those aged 11 years and above. The sessions are catered for people with learning disabilities and will be led by Sky Blues in the Community, a registered charity that runs football initiatives in the local community. A session of SwimFit will also take place from 8-9pm. SwimFit is a, instructor-led, goal-based swim session for competent swimmers.

Wednesday evening will include a SwimFit session for teenagers from 7.30-8.30pm and handball will be taking place from 6-7pm. A basketball session is taking place from 7-8:20pm for everyone above the age of 14 and lastly, Buggy Mums will be on offer Thursday 29th, from 11-12noon. This class is for pregnant and new mums who would like to stay or get back into shape.

Georgia Barrett, Community Sport Manager said: “Getting fit, losing a few pounds and toning up is always one of the most popular New Year’s Resolutions. It’s not surprising after the over indulgence of Christmas that festive weight gain is a problem for many; we’ve seen time and again. So we’ve organised these free activities to help people try new activities and begin their active lifestyle.”
