Rugby Golf Club’s head greenkeeper Jonny Peacock will be learning more about his trade in Orlando, Florida.

Jonny, who has worked at the Clifton Road club for two years, was one of just ten members of the British and International Golf Greenkeepers Association selected for the trip.

He is looking forward to a week in the sunshine as part of the the BIGGA delegation to the Golf Industry Show with Bernhard and Company.

The selection process involved a written application followed by an interview stage for the top 20 candidates.

Jonny is the only Midlands representative.

Delighted to have been chosen, he said: “Every part of this trip will be a learning curve.

“I hope to pick up many useful tips from the other delegates that I can bring back to Rugby.

“I cannot wait to visit the facilities and speak with manufacturers and suppliers. This is really a once in a lifetime opportunity for me.”

Bernhard Director Steve Nixon said: “The BIGGA delegation is always a very exciting initiative for Bernhard Company. Each year we are hugely impressed with the calibre of applications and the candidates this year did not disappoint.”

Adrian Evans, Marketing & Membership director at Rugby Golf Club added: “We congratulate Jonny on this fantastic achievement and it’s just reward for the effort and professionalism that he’s shown since joining RGC.

“Jonny’s course management has been incredible, and it allowed the course to move to the next level. We are all so proud and wish him a great trip.”

RGC will be holding their open day on Saturday, April 11. Anyone interested in membership can contact Adrian Evans on (01788) 542306 or visit www.rugbygolfclub.co.uk.
