Rugby & East Warwickshire Hockey Club teams played their last games for a while on Saturday as all Midlands operations have now been postponed for the forseeable future to assist with limiting the spread of COVID-19.

Northampton Saints 1st 1

Goals to man of the match Ross Curtis, Adam Hewitt and Jack Fisher saw Rugby comfortably win a high tempo game.

Rugby went ahead early and were able to maintain the lead thanks to some excellent saves from Danny Bell.

Plymouth Marjons 1st 2

A goal to Tom Robson and a penalty stroke saved by Connor Robson was not enough to see Rugby beat strong opposition who have secured a national league position next season.

An array of chances included a deflection that went over the bar in the dying moments of the game.

Loughboro’ Town 2nd 2

A tight game saw Connor Robson save a penalty to keep Rugby in the game after 2-0 down.

A fantastic effort from James Cummins, rounding the keeper and depositing the ball into the side netting saw Rugby within one with only five minutes to go, but were unfortunate to not complete the comeback.

Beeston 3rd 1

A great team performance saw Rugby come away with a draw against a strong Beeston side as a goal to Owen Armstrong levelled in the second half as a fantastic defensive effort kept Beeston back.

Man of the Match went to Nick Foster.

England Ladies Masters 2

Rugby played well in a training game against a very strong and organised England side and managed to take the lead through goals to Liam Brown (2), Dave Renard and Richard Cook whilst the defence held strong with Matt Westbury saving a key penalty stroke.

Market Harboro’ 2nd 0

Goals to Keith Slaughter, Charlie Morrison and Pete Willis saw Rugby past Market Harborough, whilst strong defending from Man of the Match Giles Morrison helped see Rugby to their fourth consecutive clean sheet.

REWHC Men’s 6th 4

North’mpton Saints 5th 0

An excellent game for the 6s saw them topple top of the league Saints with two goals from Jared Fox, as well as one each to Richard Hardy and Will Antrobus.

Man of the Match went to Tom Hollis for a fantastic performance at left back.

Harbourne 2

An array of goals from Rugby saw India Green, Kirby Harris, Nicki Siarbawa, Charlie Woolliscroft and Hattie Evans on the scoresheet to put Rugby third after a difficult start to the season.

Cov & N Warwick 1s 1

A brilliant performance from Rugby saw goals to Sally Dowling and Lara Naylor as they secured their position in the league next season.

Atherstone 2nd 1

A high work rate throughout eventually led to Nadine Bell converting a scoring chance to level as Maria won Player of the Match, helping to dominate periods of play.

Olton & W Warwick 5th 5

Rugby fell to a strong Olton side chasing promotion despite multiple goal line saves from Cheryl Patstone and a strong performance by player of the match Jacqui Coburn.

REWHC Boys U10s

The Under 10s became Warwickshire County Champions after scoring 21 goals and conceding only one to take the county title.

They beat Sutton 5-1 in the finals.
