The Lionesses travelled to Liverpool to play Sefton Ladies on Sunday in round 3 of the RFU Women’s Junior Cup.

The Lionesses were complemented by their travelling supporters who cheered them with great effort and volume, creating a near, if slightly quieter, Webb Ellis environment!

The Lionesses showed a gameplan that they have been training for and developing over the last few months, and a stalemate was seen with both sides attacking and defending with depth, the Lionesses having some great forward and back efforts but sadly not able to capitalise on their time in the Sefton half.

Bodies were put on the line and the physio bag was in for a busy afternoon for both sides. Sefton took every scrap of space and through some great running from their backs tallied up 29 points.

The Lionesses come back came ten minutes too late and after two amazingly worked tries, one being converted their 2014/15 Women’s Junior Cup came to a close for a final score of Sefton 29 Rugby Lionesses 12.

Coach Roger Weddell was proud of all the 22 Lionesses who travelled to Sefton.

He was first to remind the ladies how far they have come this year and in their first cup venture and that their season isn’t over yet with two big games remaining.

The first is this weekend against Lutterworth Ladies, away, kick off at 2pm. Come and roar your ladies on!
