Saints put in a disciplined performance to ensure another victory to maintain their unbeaten start to the season in front of a large home crowd.

Saints opened the scoring after six minutes, a Saints cross field kick was gathered by winger Patrick Howard who fed the supporting Will Morgan and he raced away from half way to score, adding the touchline conversion himself. After the perfect start the game settled into a battle of the defences.

Ledbury were penalised for pulling down a maul, resulting in a yellow card.

The resulting penalty was kicked to the corner and the line out was comfortable won with the pack driving over for debutant Martin Wolfenden to claim the score. Morgan converted.

Saints kept Ledbury pinned in their half, the forwards making hard yards whilst the pace out wide caused problems, but Saints couldn’t find a way through.

On a rare visit into Saints half a great counter ruck by the Saints forwards allowed Morgan to scoop up the loose ball and outpace the covering defence for his second try in the corner.

Saints kept up the pressure, but indiscretions and loose passing saw the created chance go begging. Ledbury only found their way into the Saints’ 22 once in the second half via a long clearance kick as the defence thwarted all the Ledbury attacks. The match ended with Saints camped in the Ledbury 22, but another score eluded them.

Man of the Match – Patrick Howard.

This week Saints are back on their travels when they visit Manor Park, who have already beaten Ledbury and Old Leamingtonians this season.

The club’s 90th Anniversary Dinner at Dunchurch Park Hotel is on Saturday, November 16. Tickets £40, available from Dave Eaton, Simon McAusland, Gwyn Owen and James Marston.
