Welsh secured another hard-fought victory against a spirited Harbury outfit in this rearranged friendly.

Welsh had plenty of confidence following their recent good run of form and dominated the opening quarter. Adam Bond crashed over for the first try.

The Welsh scrummage was particularly dominant and the lead was increased when Jordan Rowbottom scored a well taken try in the corner, again excellently converted by Angus Wilson.

To Harbury’s credit they fought back well. Welsh had to defend for long periods for the rest of the half with Pete Miller and Lloyd Pulford working hard.

Adam Bond’s strong tackles were crucial in dealing with Harbury’s experienced fly half but eventually they narrowed the gap with a converted try before half time.

Harbury were soon level with a converted try through their fly half and it looked like Welsh’s unbeaten run could be ended.

However the whole squad again showed character and retook the lead with penalty by Wilson who also kicked well out of hand.

Gareth Hart showed good strength to score a try and an astute tactical kick by scrum half Ricky Reed was gathered by Adam Bond for another. Harbury kept working hard and added a late converted try.

Another encouraging afternoon for Welsh who return to league action this Saturday at Five Ways Old Eds, hoping to avenge an earlier defeat this season. Kick off is at 2.15pm.
