RUGBY: Winning weekend all round

League victories for OLs, Newbold, Saints and Lions

It was a good day on Saturday for all of Rugby’s rugby clubs. In Midlands 2 West (South) leaders Old Laurentians beat Malvern 12-10 in their away game, while second placed Newbold kept up the challenge with a 71-3 win over struggling Old Coventrians.

OLs now have 47 points, just one ahead of Newbold on 46, with Banbury 43 and Malvern in fourth on 38.

In Midlands 3 East (South) Rugby St Andrews brought home the points from Northampton Casuals, winning 10-5. Saints stay fourth in the table and Casuals fifth.

Midlands 4 West (South) leaders Rugby Lions also won their game at Coventrians, 22-6, although it was stopped after an hour due to an injury. Lions are seven points ahead of next week’s opponents Evesham.

Rugby Welsh were without a league game, their next fixture in Midlands 5 West (South) is this Saturday against Birmingham Exiles.
