Quorn Cup

Rugby LTC held the first Quorn Family Cup Red Ball event last night at Harris School Sports Centre. Thirteen 10&Us and their parents took part in a great fun evening of sponge ball tennis.

The winners were Matthew and Daryl Burgess who beat Katie and Steve Rose by one point in an extremely close encounter.

Both pairs will now go and play in a regional event either at the Aegon Classic in Birmingham or in the Aegon Open in Nottingham. The club wishes them the best of luck at these events.

Doubles championship

The weather was ideal for Sunday’s Men’s and Ladies Doubles Championships at Rugby LTC. In both events, all the pairs played each other in the round robin stage with the best two going on to play the final.

The ladies final was between Rachael Baker & Natalie Victoros and Amanda Trodd & Robyn Crighton. Amanda & Robyn made things tricky for Rachael & Natalie, but the strength of shots from Rachael & Natalie saw them through to a 6 games to 1 victory.

Michelle Stuchbury & Pat Mounteney (who was playing in her first club tournament) was back in third place. The Men’s final was a lot closer with John & Liam Victoros taking on Martin Hunter & Brad Keenes. This match saw a lot of powerful hitting and it was Martin & Brad who finally came out on top to win 6 games to 4.

Last years winner’s, Duncan Grime & Marcus Powell narrowly missed out by coming third.
