A long time ago in county far, far away… Lions slipped up to Ledbury during a spell where a dark cloud lingered, after an unkind Lions summer, writes player coach Rob Dignum.

I recall the feeling as if it were just yesterday, losing in such fashion by a single score, not a pleasant experience.

Those present and educated on the matter remarked that this season would go right down to the final weekend and the rematch.

And so it is, Lions host Ledbury this Saturday at Webb Ellis Road and we need every man, woman, child and pet pitch side to see us over the line, 3pm kick off.

With just one league game remaining the table sees Evesham on 86 points, Lions 85, Southam 82… two of three are to be promoted.

At the same time Lions are hoping to get one over on Ledbury, interestingly just down the road Southam host Evesham, one of these two sides will drop points therefore.

Regardless, this is out of our hands and our destiny will be met with any win seeing us secure a third consecutive promotion, a loss therefore does not bear thinking about.

Ledbury will be hugely keen to spoil the party, off the back of a 97-0 home league win last weekend.

Conversely Lions go into the mouth watering encounter with less preparation with Harbury unable to field a front row last week.

I cannot stress the magnitude of the occasion and one not to be missed; the bar will be open, the forecast is good, two good sides that play an exciting brand of rugby… a welcoming reception will be made to all. A truly wonderful time to be a Lion.

# Just last week Lions Development secured back to back league promotions also. The visitors were second placed Kenilworth, who were quickly dispatched, 41-7 in an excellent display.

Player coach Karl Izzard remarked: “What a pleasure to be part of such a wonderful side, two players over 40 and 13 players under 20 certainly bodes well for the future!”

# And yet more success, well done to the Lionesses on their win, National Plate finalists after a thrilling 20-10 victory in the semi final… Thrilling times indeed, just the first team to do their bit now!
