Rugby Lions, missing several of their regular players, were beaten 15-14 in their top-of-the-table battle with Southam at Webb Ellis Road on Saturday.

Deserved winners on the day, Southam take over at the top of the table. They are level on 71 points with Lions, who had been ahead going in to the game.

With two teams automatically promoted and just two games to go, it’ll be a nervous and uncertain outcome for all concerned.

Lions play Cheltenham North and Ledbury in their remaining games, while Southam have Shipston on Stour and Evesham. Evesham’s other fixture is against Pershore.
