RUGBY: Saints minis hosts friends from Twickenham

Last Sunday saw the annual match between Rugby St Andrews Under 8 and Under 9 teams against Twickenham RFC. This exchange fixture has been running for a number of years and reflects the two teams’ history in the game of Rugby Union - the Home of Rugby versus the Home of English Rugby.

Last year Rugby St Andrews visited Twickenham, so 2016 saw the Saints play host to Twickenham. Several tight matches were played across the age groups and the U9s mixed up their As and Bs to even out the standard of the games. A strong Twickenham side just about edged the result on the day. Then followed a well deserved post-match meal and some short speeches in the clubhouse, before the exchange of gifts and man of the match ceremony.

An excellent day all around and the Saints are already looking forward to next year’s visit to Twickenham.
