RUGBY: Broadstreet festival in memory of Andy Farrington

Lions 2nd XV among the teams in action

BROADSTREET RFC are holding their annual ‘FazFest’fundraiser on Saturday, November 12 at their Binley Woods ground.

The first two events, in memory of Andy Farrington, whose nickname was Fazza, have raised £6,000 for Myton Hospice.

He was a Coventry and Broadstreet hooker, who died in November 2009 aged 52 after a courageous battle against cancer.

Entry to the Festival of Rugby is £5 (adult) £2 (child), the entry fee includes parking and your match day programme.

The games are:

Colts XV v Leamington ko 12noon

1st XV v Scunthorpe (National 3 Midlands) – ko 2.15pm

2nd XV v Derby

3rd XV v Rugby Lions 2nd XV

4th XV v Claverdon RFC

There is also free entertainment from 7.30pm.

Donations welcome. Raffle tickets £5 per strip will be drawn at 7pm.

Farrington made 239 appearances for his beloved home city club between 1977 and 1993 , his last against regular visitors Dublin Wanderers at Coundon Road.

During his time there he also played 41 times for Warwickshire, including two County Championship finals at Twickenham culminating in their win over Kent in 1985.

He also represented the Midlands at a time when there was fierce competition for the position of hooker from England caps Steve Brain and Brian Moore.
