The Colts put on an impressive display against local rivals Newbold last Saturday, winning 42 points to Nil in the cup competition.

The lads were able to field a relatively strong side and it was pleasing to see the return of several old faces in the line-up.

The first half was a closely fought affair but with tries from Adam Jones and Chris Easton the squad went in at half time 12 points ahead.

In the second half Newbold stepped up a gear but just couldn’t break through the Rugby defence and spirits were damaged when Jack Taylor intercepted a ball in his own 22 which was passed out to Paddy Forde to finish off. There were further tries from Sam Hartley and Chris Easton and with conversions the score board stopped moving at 42-0.

This was a brave performance from the lads who are a bit ring rusty after a period of down time following the weather and injuries. However it shows what a formidable force they are when everyone is singing from the same hymn sheet and they come together with great team spirit!
