Newbold and Leek level after extra time - but away team wins

In front of a huge crowd at Webb Ellis Road, Rugby Lions beat Cleethorpes 53-3 to reach the Midlands final of the RFU Junior Vase. The match will be away against Long Buckby on March 15.

But there was disappointment at Parkfield Road in the Intermediate Cup semi-final. Newbold and Leek could not be separated after 80 minutes and after extra time were level again at 31 points all. Unfortunately for Newbold, rules of the competition then mean the away side progresses to the final.

in the league, Old Laurentians had another good day in Midlands One, beating Market Bosworth 48-10 at the third attempt at playing the game.

Rugby St Andrews went down by just two points 27-25 at St Ives in Midlands 3 East (South)
