Friends from Old Laurentians, Lutterworth and Prison Service to play at Newbold Revel
Friends and colleagues will be turning out on Wednesday to play in memory of true gentleman Lawrence Sherriffs.
The former Old Laurentian and Lutterworth RFC player died suddenly on October last year aged only 41, after collapsing on the way home from Manchester, following a game for the Prison Service.
A social match has been arranged between a ‘4-Loz’ squad of mainly 3rds and vets from his local clubs and a similar standard Prison Service team, which will welcome players both old and new.
The first game, in what will become an annual fixture, will take place on Wednesday, May 28 at the Prison Service College, Newbold Revel near Brinklow, where Loz worked. Kick-off is at 6.30pm. Entry is by programme, adults £3 and under 16s free.
The evening will not only be honouring Loz’s memory but raising funds for his two charities, The Woodland Trust and a children’s heart disease charity.
Having only started playing rugby aged 19, Loz was a well loved and respected player. He spent most of his career with OLs before joining Lutterworth when he moved to Walcote a few years ago.
