RUGBY: Newbold

Big game at Wellingborough on Saturday

Newbold have a 76-seater double decker coach going to Wellingborough this Saturday (April 5) and would ask those wishing to travel to support, to contact the club as soon as possible to reserve your place.

It’s the defining game of the season for the Parkfield Road club, as victory will guarantee a play-off place and a likely home draw. The Northamptonshire club won at Newbold earlier this season, but Newbold have notched victories against all of the top clubs, including league leaders Leighton Buzzard, since.

Newbold had no game this week, some players turned out in club matches, but many players have had a well earned rest and now eagerly await this contest. Skipper Nick Walton said he and his team are really up for this game and deserve their promotion opportunity, based on the back of an outstanding season. But, he went further: “We have won nothing yet, we need to have a huge week training so our preparation can be spot on for Saturday.

“If we play like we have been over the last few weeks, then we can finish off the season in great style, we are all looking forward to it.”

The club would ask that all supporters make a massive effort to get to Wellingborough to cheer the team on as your support could make all the difference.
