Exciting link up with O2

The Newbold Falcons ladies touch rugby team are entering a new and exciting chapter this season as they compete in nine summer series Midlands League tournaments, starting this Sunday (March 22) at their home ground on Parkfield Road.

The Falcons consists of a very strong squad of females, ranging in age from 14 to 40. After some extremely hard work, tough training and commitment they hope to challenge other local Rugby and Midland teams for honours on a monthly basis, culminating in the final tournament again at Newbold’s Parkfield Road on Sunday, October 4.

In addition, Newbold RFC will be teaming up with O2 and the RFU in April to set up Newbold RFC as one of 75 O2 Touch Centres throughout the UK, providing the community with the opportunity to take part in this new and fast-moving non-contact rugby-themed sport for men and women.

If you are over 14, male or female, an ex-player or complete novice and would like to try a new exciting version of rugby without full contact, then 02 Touch at Newbold RFC is for you!

The RFU is very keen to encourage players of both sexes from all areas of the community to take part in the game of rugby in this World Cup year, and this social, fitness-based sport offers another avenue into the world of rugby football.

Newbold RFC is very proud and privileged to provide this mixed-team sport to people of all abilities. Three dedicated O2 Touch coaches and two O2 Ambassadors from the Newbold Falcons team, who have attended the FIT (Federation of International Touch) and now hold level 1 qualification in coaching and level 1 qualifications in refereeing, will lead this new endeavour and build on the success of the club as a whole.

The Newbold Falcons train on Wednesday nights between 7-8.30pm and Sunday between 2-3.30pm. O2 Touch sessions will begin in April. Contact Damian (coach), Wandzia (manager) or Clare (captain) at and keep a lookout for more information on the Newbold Website, Falcons RFC Newbold on Facebook

With the senior 1st team chasing promotion to Midlands Division 1, the 2nd Team and 3rd Teams pushing to finish top in Warwickshire League 1 and 2 and the Colts doing well this promises to be a huge year for Newbold RFC and all its members in its 121st year. We welcome everyone this weekend for an U16 fixture at 11am and the Ladies Touch Tournament from 1pm.
